Should I buy a home now or wait until spring?

Happy October 2013!

My husband, Steve, took this picture last night as the sun was setting over the lake.  Summer is over and cooler weather has settled in. That means the kids are back to school and it's time to get your home ready for the winter.

Fall is our second busiest season after spring.  Now, is a great time to buy or list your home, not only is the weather still mild but mortgage rates are still low and you may be eligible for a year-end tax break!  You can yield great dividends in your income tax return by deducting mortgage interest, property taxes and if you close your loan before December 31, 2013 your prepaid interest before your first payment can also be deductible. Sellers are more motivated to sell and if you buy now you will be all settled in before the busy holiday season starts.

Don’t miss out on a good listing.  Make sure you are working closely with your Real Estate Professional, as listings are updated frequently.  Make sure to get pre-approved with your lender before you start looking then you will be likely to stick to your budget and you will be ready to make the attractive right priced offer for the home you want.

You and your family need to buy when you are ready not because you fear of losing out on today’s great interest rates and prices on homes.  The best time to buy is when you are financially and emotionally fit to make an offer on the right home for you.   Remember, there are always new homes being listed and reduced every day!
