Its moving day already….Are you ready to make the move?

As soon as you know your move in date contact all of your new utility companies — electric, gas, water, telephone, garbage, sewer, telephone, cable and Internet — to get all services put into your name.

You may be surprised when you move into your new home that some bugs have already decided to move in so before you move in have an extermination company come and spray your house.

To make your home feel more like your new home it is best to clean your home from top to bottom before you start moving.

Make sure you know where your main circuit breaker is and main water shut off valve is located in your new home.  Also make sure each switch on your main circuit breaker is labeled properly.

Check your new home to see if there are enough smoke detectors and test each one.  Also, make sure you have a fire extinguisher on each floor.

Have a first aid kit available in a centralized location.  You never know what can happen on moving day with moving and unpacking.

Change the locks on your doors.  You don’t want uninvited guest getting into your new home.

Make sure you have one box labeled with all the essentials you will need right away, such as toilet paper, soap, toothpaste, trash bags, cups and plates, scissors, snacks and paper towels.

Change your address with the post office, credit card companies, banks, insurance company, driver’s license and voter registration information.
